||Although Nancy Gavenda
has been my Sensei since 1991, and still is, I recently had
the opportunity to study under one of her peers, Leyn Burrows.
Both Leyn and Nancy are students of Master Buzz Durkin of Atkinson,
NH. Master Durkin is a story that's much too large for this
blog. Suffice it to say that he is a peer/student/partner/friend
of the pioneer of Uechi Ryu in America, Master George Mattson.
A work contract brought me the opportunity to study with Sensei
Leyn Burrows. I had known of Leyn's dojo and his karate for
a long time and always thought I would like to take some lessons
from him. Be careful what you dream of, etc.
I started this blog as an email summary of each week's lesson,
sent to some of the seniors in my home dojo. I told a friend,
Ed O'Connell, of my good fortune and he suggested that I post
it on my web site. Well, here it is.
